This mesmerizing gem follows Helen Lyle, a graduate student (Virginia Madsen) writing her thesis on Candyman (Tony Todd), a murderous character said to stalk Chicago’s Cabrini-Green public housing complex. Helen believes that Candyman is an urban legend, but soon discovers that the world is not as simple as her education has taught her. A rare 1990s horror film that has something to say - dealing with race and class along with a thought-provoking exploration of the nature and power of belief - this faithful adaptation of Clive Barker's short story "The Forbidden” is a horror masterpiece.
