Join Julio Torres and Friends from the upcoming A24 release PROBLEMISTA, which is Torres's feature film debut that he wrote, directed and stars in. Check out the trailer here. 

PROBLEMISTA follows Alejandro, who is an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador, struggling to bring his unusual ideas to life in New York City. From writer-director Julio Torres comes a surreal adventure through the equally treacherous worlds of New York City and the U.S. Immigration system. PROBLEMISTA in Austin March 22. 

About Julio Torres:

Julio Torres is a Brooklyn-based comedian who moved to New York from El Salvador to study literature at the New School. Along with Fred Armisen and Ana Fabrega, he co-created and stars in LOS ESPOOKYS, a Spanish language series intended for an English speaking audience, on HBO. The show was recently renewed for Season 2. Julio can currently be seen starring in his new HBO comedy special, MY FAVORITE SHAPES, which premiered earlier this month to rave reviews. Julio will next go into production on the independent feature TOGETHERISH, written and to be directed by Nikole Beckwith, starring Ed Helms and  Patti Harrison.  Julio was also an Emmy-nominated writer for SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE where his work on received much acclaim from various publications, including THE NEW YORK TIMES, which described his comedy as “dreamy” and hinging on “empathetic shifts in perspective.”
